The TAT-2000C Temporal Scanner is a non-invasive thermometer uses advanced infrared technology to provide maximum ease of use with quick and accurate measurements.

Please note that this is for home use only. See the TAT-2000 for the professional grade version.

Advanced, patented technology measures temperatures with a gentle stroke across the forehead.

The Exergen TAT-2000C Temporal Thermometer makes taking temperatures at home quicker and more accurate than ever before. Using infrared technology the TAT-2000C Thermometer detects body heat at the temporal artery in the forehead. Oral temperature is often variable, affected by many factors, and even rectal temperature can be inaccurate. Additionally, both these methods are invasive and can aggravate the patient, especially if that patient is an infant or small child. In contrast, the Exergen Temporal Thermometer is completely non-invasive and requires only a brief moment of gentle contact to obtain a reading.

The TAT-2000C records an accurate temperature every time with patented infrared scanning technology. The temporal artery carries blood from the heart, the source of core temperature. Exergen's Infrared Scanner makes over thousands of readings as it scans over the forehead and artery, picking the highest (and most accurate) temperature. The unique arterial heat balance (AHB) software in the Home Thermometer calculates the heat lost from the temporal artery to accurately determine core temperature. The entire measurement takes less than a second and leaves the patient completely undisturbed.

Using the Temporal Scanner is easy: simply depress the button, scan across the side of the forehead in a straight line to the hairline, and release. If the patient is sweating, lift the Exergen Thermometer and place it in the neck depression beneath the earlobe. This will cause the TAT-2000C to compensate for evaporative cooling. As you scan, LED lights (one on the front and one on the back) and an increasingly rapid beeping indicate that the Thermometer is reading a higher temperature.

The Temporal Artery Thermometer displays temperatures for 30 seconds on an LCD screen in Fahrenheit. Celsius readings can also be selected as the default.

The TAT-2000C operates using a 9V battery. Cleaning the probe lens and cone can be accomplished with a small cloth moistened with alcohol. Exergen Temporal Thermometer is proudly made in the USA.

Exergens Temporal Scanner Thermometer has been clinically tested for accuracy compared to rectal thermometers and temperature sensors inserted in the heart during course of patient treatment and accepted for use in major hospitals, making it the ideal thermometer for use with newborns, infants, children or adults.

The Temporal  Scanner has patented software, that determines temperature by accurately measuring the balance between the tissues warming from arterial blood and tissues cooling (warming) caused by heat loss (gain) to the environment.

How does the TemporalScanner Thermometer specifically work?

As you gently stroke the thermometer across the forehead crossing over the temporal artery, the sensor in its probe performs two processes:

  • First it scans like a video camera, capturing naturally emitted infrared heat from the arterial blood supply at about 1000 “frames” per second, locking in the highest temperature it senses and;
  • Second, at the same time, a patented system measures the ambient temperature of the site where the temperature is being taken. The patented "arterial heat balance" (AHB) software then synthesizes the two separate readings to accurately determine and display body temperature.
  • As with any thermometer, taking temperatures properly is critical to obtaining accurate temperatures, so please read all instructions carefully and thoroughly before using this product.
